Hi ,
Can anyone tell me if the front grill / headlight surround and turn signal marker lights from a 75-76 Cougar can be swapped into a 75 Montego ? Wondering if the core support is the same on the those cars ? Thank you much !

The directional signal lens housings on the cougar wrap around to the side of the header panel. But on the montego they do not. And the top of the cougar grill reaches higher up on the header panel. The cougar appears to have wider headlight surround housings and a less wide grill than the montego. The montego grill appears to be wider than the cougar, and the sides of the montego grill appear to go rearward deeper into the header panel than the cougar grill. They have two different header panels.
When you go to install the cougar grill into the montego header panel, the grill hole might be to wide on the sides for the cougar grill to fit into. You might have to fill in that space with sheet metal or fiberglass. And the mounting points for the headlight housings inside of the header panel might be different too. It might be easier to just find a cougar header panel and install it.
You might be able to install the cougar directional signal lens housings on the montego if you cut some of the sheet metal off of the outer sides of the montego header panel. The rest of it appears to be very similar.   Edited by pete rad - 28-April-2021 at 5:30PM |
