I didn't think they would, but I want that S&H rake anyway so time to go through the coil thread again. I looked for those insulators last week and couldn't find them. Does anyone still make them?
Before: 245/60r15. After: 275/60r15 (rear only). Rubs on the driver side. Probably rubs on the passenger side if the seat is occupied. 2, I think, different S&H cars with the stance I'm after.

I like those wheels and tires.

I think you need to change the ride height of both ends. To me the rear is too low, and the front is too high. But they are both close, I'd aim for raising the rear by maybe an inch, and the front lower by nearly the same. It's hard to adjust the height exactly to what you want it, go slow planning how much to change the springs, what coil length to cut or change.

That S&H car looks just right in the front, but I'd prefer the rear down some, just a little, maybe 1/2" at most.

I have the same 275/60 tires for the back of mine too, I chose 255/60/15's for the front. Keep at it.

Thanks! I agree with you. I will start with the rear as raising it may lower the front some. I found this one that I really like. I took a screenshot. What springs and shocks do you have to prevent rubbing? Got pics?

There have been two other members here in the last year that installed 275/60/15's in the back, they looked good too. I haven't got my tires mounted yet, I had a nine month wait for the Magnum 500 replica's to be made. That's on my list to do near future. My 72 has the prior owner's choices, a 225/70/14 in front I think, and a 255/70/15 in back, all too narrow and tall profile for my taste.

I agree, not a fan of those tires. And these big wheel wells need lots of meat.

Wheels and tires are 245 60-14's front and 295 50-15's out back.  They fit great - plenty of room, no rubbing.

Yeah the 295/50 is 1.4" shorter than the 275/60. I ordered the wagon springs, and some spacers in case I need them. I should have it back on the road by Saturday and will post pics.

The 275/60/15 is about an inch taller than a 295/50/15. The 275 section width adds an inch, but the 50 series loses 2" of height(1" per 5% series change).

Anyone reading this info, dont forget wheel width & off-set play a huge part.... not just tire size!

Hope those springs work out! Thumbs Up

Thanks!

I got new rear shocks as well. They are shock/coil combos. I hope they are a good match for the coils but it may be a bit much. We'll see! Everything arrived today. I also have a Lares steering gear and new lines.and rag joint ro install.

Look into taller springs so the upper shock mount is not carrying the load.

I installed the new shocks and coil springs yesterday and I like it! Even with our crappy roads, it rides pretty damn good. I’ll post the details in the coil spring thread as well.

Coil springs: Mevotech SMS803V

Coil spring spacer: 1” McBay Performance MP1615, 1 per side

Shock and coil spring combo: Monroe 58568

Tires front: 245/60r15

Tires rear: 275/60r15

Wheels: 15x8 American Racing Torq Thrust II, rears with 1” spacer

Before and after
