New here. Great forum. I have an opportunity to buy a beautifully restored, matching numbers, 1969 Ford Cobra 428. This is confirmed California car, 2 door formal coupe, with a Marti Report. Factory C6 automatic on the column. PS, PB, factory A/C converted and functioning. Plain hood car. Black Jade; 7/10 paint. Interior excellent. $80k USD. Seems high, although yes it’s an original 428 car. No information on whether the driveline has been rebuilt. All smog equipment appears intact. Engine bay clean but not factory show condition. I did not observe rear chrome tipped exhaust; maybe not available when new. Well documented car. I know these cars are very rare; although I do not know the desirability factor. My thinking is a 440 Road Runner or 396 Chevelle SS are more desirable, and are worth more, all factors being equal.

Welcome to the forum!  I have upgraded you to a new member so you have full forum access.  I agree that that price seems a bit high, especially if the car is not a 10/10.  I would also agree that a Road Runner or SS396 Chevelle would typically bring more money all else equal.  Has the car been restored or in it original?  Any pics of the car, or even a URL to the ad?

Welcome. It is worth what you are willing to pay when it gets to the brass tacks. Only you can decide as that is not a minor investment. If all the numbers match and your heart is set on it, then go for it.
Speaking for myself, gm rides do nothing for me, been there done that. The Road Runner is more my style personally.
I like Eliminators as well as 70-71 Torinos the best. Nowadays, I do not want to be doing anything mechanical and am glad I sold my 72 and slipped into a 2022 Mustang. The modern technology and being able to drive to California if it were to happen would only be fuel to worry about. Car shows more than an hours drive sucked to be honest and my only concern is keeping mice away.
