COBRA sports roof tail panel emblems

Hi all, I notice the COBRA and snake emblems are in different positions on different cars. Snake to the left of COBRA, Snake to the right of COBRA and COBRA at different heights. What is factory correct? Thanks, Ed

I've seen this asked on other forums and there doesn't seem to be a clear answer. Some say it depends on the assembly plant.  If you look at recent BAT listings/sales they seem to be both above and below the center trim bar:


There is a period road test from Car Life magazine that shows it below:

I like the below the bar look better.

Was there more than one factory that built Cobras?
1972 Gran Torino station wagon, light blue, 351C 2V, prior owner upgraded to 4V (2V heads), originally had a C4 but prior owner changed to C6 for some reason.

Yep, from what the Marti's show.  Same as Fairlane/Torino lines I'd suspect.

So I just checked a few at Bring A Trailer, and luckily, since Cobra fastbacks are expensive, sellers are being good about showing the Marti reports. I found two Lorain cars with different badge placements, and two San Jose cars with different badge placements. So we can't even say different plants had different ways, since they're not consistent even within two cars from the same plant.
