Quick question. Are the front core supports on a 72 and 73 Torino’s interchangeable?

Yes they’re basically identical except for the location of the mounting nuts for the latch bracket…

The 72 has the latch bracket bolted to the front of the core support…73 on top and has welded in captive nuts…72 just has holes in the front…other than that they’re identical…

Was planning on putting the 73 latch into the 72 front that’s going on the car but not sure it’s worth the effort

i tried fitting a 73 hood to my 72, the latch didn't jive.

you may need to keep the hood and latch system all one year

Try retrofitting the hood latch parts from a late Crown Vic. I have a 95 that gave me the idea. The parts look like they are made to bolt on, the CV hoods are aluminum. So unless something is more difficult, it looks like with a simple large hole for the hood part to bolt on with two bolts, it should attach easily to any hood with a nice flat area there at the front center.

I have a 72 front also and plan to use the 73 latch cable etc. That under bumper hook has to go, I will fill that huge hole in the bumper to make it stronger.
