Will the Ford Van V10 bolt in to the '03 and up CV frame?
Oil pan? The '03 and up CV has Rack and Pinion along with it had the modular motors in them so I know it will fit just curious about the van/truck oil pan? |

No idea. I am swapping a late model van 4.2 into my '68 F100, and the pan is rather large, but 4.2's have no reference in a passenger car application other than the 3.8 being in the same family. I would guess that the pans on modular engines are different due to the setback required in a van.

Yeah the V10 is kind of a piece of crap. If you wanted a mod motor I'd probably go with a built 5.4. If it's good enough for the Ford GT... But to answer your question, I'm fairly sure the V10 has the same mounts as the other mod motors. |

Yes the V10 is gutless and gas guzzler right now.
No it does not have zero support. The 6.8 is a 5.4 with 2 more cylinders. The 5.4 mod stuff works on the 6.8 just have to order 10 of each instead of 8. The cam can be ground to match the specs for the modded 5.4, heads can be worked. Throttle bodies can be adapted, computers can be re tuned etc... But for now it is just saying there is a V10 under the hood! lol Can't be any less gutless than the stock 302 with a 2 BBL? Edited by cowboyupdjcarl - 03-August-2011 at 6:40AM |

If I were going to that trouble and wanted a V10, I'd go snag a Viper/Ram engine. I can just hear all the BOOOOOOOs starting right now. But it wouldn't be a gutless pig, LOL.

Jeff, be glad I didn't have my way. I would have dropped a 318/904 in my Torino in a heartbeat if I felt like wiring it up. Gutless, sure. Bulletproof, absolutely.

Gotta love a 318. I kept my mom in cars for years after my dad passed away, and her favorite was an '88 Plymouth Gran Fury (looked like a Volare/5th Avenue) ex highway patrol car. 318/big Theromoquad 4 Bbl police setup. She kept that car matted to the floor for 5 years and it still ran like new. In fact, I sold it to a retired state trouper who was going to restore it for their Police shows. Jeez, that car would friggin fly, handled like it was on rails and sounded like it would suck pigeons out of the air when all 4 barrels kicked in, LOL! Absolutely bulletproof and not a bit gutless - ask a couple of guys here with retired CVPI's...

I don't have any problem with MOPAR's as I restored alot of them at my old restoration shop cause they hold value and people are willing to pay good money to have them restored as they can still get their money back out of it if they had to sell it.
My issue is the guys who build street rods and stick a 350 Chevy in a 32-34 Ford or any other Ford. OMG if you were to stick a Ford engine in a MOPAR they would have a cow so a 318 don't belong in a Ford either. Yes,I agree that the 318 was a great motor and they were hard to kill and would last forever if you treated them good.Most of the Mopar people pluck the 318 and opt for a 340 or 360 if they don't go to a Big Block 383,413,440 or sometimes a 426 Hemi. they like more horsepower and the status of having something bigger then a 318. The Slant 6 was another motor that was hard to kill. Only Mopar product I ever owned was a 74 Dodge RamCharger 4x4 which was originally a 318 till i finally killed it and then enetered a 360 PI motor from an old Fury which I could smoke all 4 tires on the pavement with that beast.I was the truck that had to pull all the others who got stuck in the mud.
