im trying to find out whats difference between the ford pints dp5 and dp6.the dp6 are for the 289 hipo and the dp5 is for the 429 cj/boss.i have more dp6 then i need but only one set of dp5.i think thay will work in ether set up.what do you think.thanks....

the difference might be the spring tension, the Hi-Po 289 would have more spring to run more rpm

thats what i was thinking but just trying to confirm.im seeing people on ebay trying to sell dp5 for the hipo 289 motors.

i'm not sure what you are referring to on the #'s but as far as points go... i've always ran "blue streak" by standard ignition brand they cost more than the el-cheapo one's but far superior as any i've ever used back in the day, not sure if they still make them??

DP5 is for standard single point distributors.
DP6 is for hi-po dual point distributors. They are dimensionally the same, but the DP6 has higher spring tension, and doesn't last as long.
