HELLO ALL. I AM IN CONTACT WITH A COMPANY THAT WOULD BE INTERESTED IN MAKEING 1972-76 TORINO BODY MOUNTS IF THERE WERE ENOUGH DEMAND FOR THEM TO JUSTIFY PRODUCTION. IF ANY BODY IS INTRESTED LET ME KNOW. THIS WOULD MEAN WE WOULD NOT HAVE TO BUY AND MODIFY ANY OTHER BUSHINGS ANY MORE

I'm prepared to have the body back on the frame by the end of summer or beginning of fall. I have a Chevelle set but would scrap them out if a Torino set were available.

AFTER MORE RESEARCH AND A $20.00 CHANCE I HAVE FOUND THAT 2008 FORD CROWN VICTORIA BODY MOUNTS AND RADIATOR SUPPORT MOUNTS ARE THE EXACT SAME MOUNTS. I JACKED THE BODY UP AND REMOVED AN OLD MOUNT AND REPLACED IT WITH THE NEW ONE AND LOWERD THE BODY BACK DOWN . AND IT WAS A PERFECT MATCH. WITH NO MODIFACTIONS WHAT SO EVER ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS REPLACE THE BOLT THAT COMES WITH THE MOUNTS WITH THE ORGINAL ONE OR REPLACE THE BOLT WITH A NEW ONE. THE PART NO. ARE (UPPER MOUNT)6W1Z-5400396-A AND (LOWER) 6W1Z-5C155-AA. YOU CAN ORDER THESE PARTS WHOLESALE THRU BOB UTTER FORD OUT OF TEXAS. GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR PROJECT.

I need a set. I was modding a universal set which may
work pretty well, but if the '08 vic is the same, then that may be the way to go. Keep us posted and please......pics!! Thanks, Jim

I just purchased 1 of these mounts to see if in fact it would work. Here's what I came up with. Keep in mind my body is on a rotisserie and my frame is on a cart on it's side so it made it pretty easy to check every mounting area out.
Upper mount - only difference is it's about 1/8"-1/4" taller [not too big of a deal] Other than that it's a perfect fit. (10 mounts)
Lower mount - The size is perfect, but where it contacts the frame it's cone shaped as if it would wedge into a hole. (not flat like original) Not too sure if this is a problem. Also, when tight, I can turn the mount in the frame by hand. But it is pretty snug, just not very tight.
Bolt - I do not recommend re-using the original bolt. It won't be long enough. Need new bolts.
Radiator core support - These mounts will not work for this. I haven't figured out yet what will work. I'm still working on this.
As a side note; there are other size mounts on this car along with some sort of rad core support mount. I will check out.
These mounts are for 2003 - 2009 Ford Crown Victoria's with a 2006 part number.

The up-side of the Chevelle type mounts is the whole set can be bought for under $100 (at least they were a year or so ago). I haven't actually tried them yet, but they look to be a bit smaller diameter. The height looks very close. I'm pretty sure someone else on the forum has installed them. That's where I got the idea.
If it helps to get over the GM parts on a Ford issue, the mounts are aftermarket, not made by GM. Kinda like those 8 track tapes we used to buy that said "in the style of" in fine print so you didn't know it wasn't the actual band 'till it was too late. (OK, that has nothing to do with mounts, it just popped into my head)

I am just about at this stage of my restoration, by all means keep us up-to-date, as this has been a big worry of mine. I was gonna go with the Chevelle mounts, but if these are better I'll do that instead.

Unless a better solution comes along, I will use the crown vic mounts. Out of all choices right now, they seem to have the least mods if any.

1. smaller in dia. 2. require mods The only mod required for the cv mounts is new bolts which should probably be replaced anyway. They're close in height and exact in diameter. Nearly a perfect fit. ![]() |

The height difference with the taller CV mounts does kind of bother me.. It's like adding a body lift to a truck, no?
