Hello all,
We just picked up a 1970 Torino Brougham 2 door hardtop and I have a few questions. I have been doing some research on it and am a little confused some of the pictures that I have come across are slightly different than our body style, for instance the rear windows are curved and not squared - anyone know why? I will be pulling the vin number soon to decode it and get more information on the car. The car is in decent shape but will be restored with some modifications. I am also looking to find a good place to purchase aftermarket parts , does any one have a suggestion? thanks for any information you can give me.

The side rear windows are curved in the hardtop version unlike the fastback version where the windows are squared or rather pointed. There aren't many hardtops out there. For some reason most people wanted the fastback but the engines that were available in the fastback are also out there in the hardtops; i.e. 429s. There also aren't many of us '70 - '71 owners here but don't give up. As far as parts go, the Fairlane suppliers are the best source and have a good selection of parts. I personally use Melvin's in Conyers Ga. They are a family owned business that have the best prices and don't forget to calculate freight on all orders. But there is also Mac's, Dearborn Calssics, and Auto Krafters.
Good luck and Happy Holidays!
Later!
Mr. Ed

Good choice on picking up a Torino, the best car in my opinion. Is it your first Torino or have you had one in the past?
If your in Washington as in the state above Oregon there is a guy in Portland that would have everything you would ever want for your Torino. His name is Dan and he operates Rose City Classic Car Emporium Good luck with your project! |

Hi 71torino,
Thanks for the info. Yes we're in WA state above Oregon. Shipping will be considerable less for us then or we could just run a day trip. Nope this is our first one, this car was picked up because a friends neighbor needed money and we just finished a 57' chevy 4 door wagon project and were looking for a new project and though it might be interesting. We probably will be going custom on it like everything else we do, but will need to locate some parts for it ie: honeycomb tail light, GT emblems, possible shaker hood & rear louvers. |
