The regular torino models and the torino cobra have the two tail lights like the picture below.

The GT models have the one tail light across the whole rear or the car, above the rear bumper, like the picture below.

What Pete said.  The GT's got the tail light panel that goes all the way across the back.

You're welcome, actually a cobra jet is a ford engine like the 351 and 429 cobra jets. The 1970 torino cobra is a torino model and the torino GT is another 1970 torino model.

Oddly, I had a friend that owned a '70 or '71 Torino Brougham that had the lights all the way across. The car was original and this was back in the early '80's. Anyone else know of this? Am I thinking of a lit filler panel between them instead of all 1 piece?

It also had the hidden headlights.

Hidden headlights were definitely available on Broughams.  Actually, a lot of them had hidden headlights.  Here's how the rear panel of a Brougham should look.  Is this what you remember?

By the way, the convertible was custom made, the roof cut off.  Here's another pic of it:

It could have been that, but I thought it was reflectorized. Lots of beer, women, and years since then could have made the old mind a bit fuzzy, LOL.

I would be afraid to lop the top off a vintage unibody car. Very little structure to hold it together.
