Hello all, I am about to install new bushings in the rear control arms on my 73 Torino. Looks straight forward but I am not sure what thrust washers are and where to put them in. Any advice would be great. Thanks

Hello all, I am replacing the bushings on my rear end of the 73 Torino, all is good except I am having a hard time finding a diagram of the rear end parts so I can make sure I put everything back together correctly. Does anyone have a diagram or can point me to where I can find one. Thanks

mark, take a look through my thread... there should be a couple pics that may be helpful... i'll dig around through my stuff see f i can find a diagram? i thought the energysuspension bushing came with a diagram??? the lower arms are pretty straight forward the uppers and the thrust washer thing you mentioned was a strange concept, it threw me for a loop at first! basically it goes against the arm outside the small end of the installed bushing to keep the arm from walking over and rubbing against the bracket.

Johnny,
Thanks for the reply. The thrust washer I figured out with a video. Looking at the bracket though, there does not appear to be room for a thrust washer. It all fits pretty tight. The diagram that comes with the bushings is general and not specific to the Torino. I am having a hard time finding shop manuals for my car without spending a small fortune. Thanks for the help. When I get better at this I will be able to contribute more to this web site. I am a mechanic that is still in elementary school so to speak. |

Mark, I am with the others, invest in the shop manuals. They are invaluable, I use mine all the time. They make reprints now too and digital versions as well.
I have this pic of the rear suspension that may help: ![]() Edited by 72FordGTS - 23-January-2019 at 2:56PM |

That photo worked!! I have started buying the shop manuals. Thanks for all of the links. As I get better at this I will be able to help others too. This web site has really saved my tail. I will post photos when I get the bushings in.
