I am the proud owner of a 1976 Ford Gran Torino Brougham. I am also proud to be a member of this forum and expect to learn much from fellow members. I will try to post some pictures of my original Torino, that I call Roberto. This Torino has a great background story that I will post at a later date. I look forward to seeing your post.

I am the second owner of this Torino. My brother-in-law, Robert, bought the car new, in my home town. He was very meticulous about his car, as it shows. In 1986 he moved to Bradenton, Florida. The car has either been garaged or covered while at work. I have owned the car for one year. It sat up in Robert's garage for three years after his passing in 2019. I got the car from his son and had it trailered my Louisiana hometown, where he originally purchased it. I have done some mechanical work, since it sat up for 4-5 years. It now runs good but still has some small paint problems that I need to address. I also need new seat springs for the front seat, or advice on hot to make them stronger. When I sit down, I sink so low, I can barely see over the steering wheel. I have named my Torino, Roberto, in honor of my brother-in-law Robert. The car has been repainted twice. Once before leaving Louisiana and some unkown time while it was in Florida for thirty plus years. The second paint job is terrible, so I probably need to do that in the near future. I am sure I will need all the help everyone can give me.

Nice ride.
Welcome to the site! A couple things...Ebay still has factory paper manual sets for sale, it's worth buying. Regarding the seat, you will likely need to buy new seat springs and use the proper hog rings (Don't recall the term for the wide clamps that the springs use. If you are careful, you should be able to remove the cover, replace the original foam with new automotive grade seat foam, and replace the seat frame springs. There is a diagram in the 1972 torino interior assembly manual that shows a diagram of the seat springs. Realistically, any local auto interior shop can replace the springs and do new jute backing and new layers of foam, but if you have done interior work, it's not that terrible. Seat spring material: Regarding the foam, I can't advise what foam would be best for you. I do know when I was redoing my Lincoln Mark 7 buckets, I added two different layers of high and medium density foam to help bolster up old seat foam. |

Great back story. The Florida sunshine does a lot of damage to painted surfaces. Order paint will go bad fast if its not properly applied and protected.
Welcome and enjoy the forum
