I'm going to check out a 460 with E4OD out of a camper tomorrow. Has anyone dropped this combo in their car? I have a 76 Gran Torino. I know the trans is basically a longer C6 so I'll need a driveshaft. I'm guessing crossmember as well. I'll try to find original motor mounts. My concern is that this beast won't fit under the hood with the stock EFI. Does anyone know for sure? I really want to keep everything as is. It's all still on the chassis and runs. I can transfer everything.

I am not sure on the 460 EFI engine, but big block mounts are hard to find for a Torino.  You can source them from any other midsized 1972-79 Ford, or also the Mark IV/V Lincoln and 1972-76 T-bird.  Crites makes some aftermarket ones (or did) but they require the use of their headers as they are different than OEM.  You'd need to get the measurement on the height of the engine vs a 460 with a carb.  On the other hand, you could grab the 460, swap intake, carb and distributor.  That's the routed I'd go, much easier.

For the E4OD, it's a very large transmission.  I don't think it will fit without major surgery to the transmission tunnel. I don't know of anyone who's done it.  It'd be easier to find a C6 and use that with the 460.

Ahh so when I read that the E4OD is basically a C6 with overdrive, I assumed it was the same size with a longer tail. My bad.
I took some measurements and I seriously doubt that EFI manifold fits under the hood. I'll look for a carbed  one if I go that route.
Thanks!

BTW, 460 EFI heads use a different exhaust port "arrangement", 70's headers will not fit the heads and definitely won't fit your Torino. An E4OD has a larger bellhousing as compared to a C6, don't forget about the aftermarket(read $$$) trans controller you'll need for the E4OD. Hope this helps

I would get whatever electronics needed from the donor. It's basically a running chassis. But I'm not up for doing major surgery. I'll just look for a 351 roller block and build something fun. I already bought a 4R70W from a Mustang a while back. I do need a controller for that one.

Hey everyone. Jus like you guys I've been thinking bout EFI.
Haven't decided if I want to go TBI, direct port fuel injection kit or have my intake modified for direct port injection.
Found this at McGee racing.

Some specs of the engine, Kaase aluminum P-51 head, Edelbrock Victor Jr. Intake, Isky Hydraulic Roller cam 262/270 @ .50, .644 lift.

Recently got it chasis dynoed out in Jurupa Valley, at Westtwch performance group

Any advise and help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.
