I have been researching carbs to replace a Holley 4160 I presently have on my 429. The engine was rebuilt and an Edelbrock Performer 460 intake and Edlebrock Performer Plus cam were installed and the engine has PI exhaust manifolds on it. I am leaning towards an Edelbrock AVS-2 but am not sure on a 650 or 800 cfm version. The 800 is supposed to be for engines over 400 hp and I'm not sure if the above parts would have gotten me to that level. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

What type of driving do you do with your car? IIRC, the 650 has smaller primaries while the 800 has equal sized primaries and secondaries. So the 650 might offer better signal at lower speeds and give better driveability/economy. The larger 800 would probably give more top end power and better overall performance.

Thanks, Vince, I mostly do cruising and car shows and occasional pleasure driving, not necessarily looking for the highest performance but focused more on good drivability and economy. Also my car has 3:25 gears and dual exhausts. From everything I've read from people who have the 650 they are really happy with the great low end response with it also.

Yes, I'd choose the 650 too given the plan for mild use, cruising etc. A nice strong 429 with great heads and intake would need more size for sure.
