I TOOK A DEPOSIT ON THE CAR THIS AFTERNOON, 7/25/2024 So, what we have as you can tell by the pictures is a 1972 Gran Torino Sport that is a true 351CJ, 4 speed car. I started with new brakes so it would at least stop if you were pushing it around. So now the list of work and I am sure I am missing a TON of details out. BRAKES - All new brake lines, master cylinder, front calipers, hardware, brake hoses, pads, rotors, bearing and seals, rear shoes, hardware, wheel cylinders, adjusters, drums, park brake cables, park brake release cable/handle (used). Yes, park brake works. ENGINE - The original VIN stamped engine was froze up. It has been completely disassembled and IS rebuildable. The short block goes with the car. The short block in the car is a very, very low miles 72 2V Cleveland that is .040" overbored with factory type dished pistons. It has a Comp cams roller timing chain set and a Melling performance cam and all new gaskets including rear pain seal. I used the original to the car CJ oil pan which i had to use POR 15 putty on the bottom of the sump because it had pinholes. It does have a drip that will leave a spot on the floor. I have a good CJ oil pan that goes with the car. The original 4v heads were completely rebuilt with hardened seats, all new guides, valves and springs and has hardened pushrods. The harmonic balancer is a Pioneer brand performance balancer. Distributor is a brand new unit, recurved and with a Petronix unit inside. New cap, rotor, Motorcraft plugs and wires. New belts. All I have run in it is DRIVEN hot rod oil and motorcraft filters. It currently has 10w40 and a Ford Racing oil filter. Has great oil pressure. EXHAUST - Exhaust from the manifolds back is a complete reproduction factory dual exhaust set up with original type mufflers COOLING - Brand new 3 row radiator, radiator hoses and heater hoses, hi flow thermostat from TMEYER, 8 blade ford clutch fan with new fan clutch, new radiator cap. FUEL - New fuel tank and fuel sending unit, Carter fuel pump, pre-bent fuel line from pump to Carburetor, correct spreadbore intake with a reman 4300D carburetor. STEERING/SUSPENSION - New Power steering hoses and belt, Lares quick ratio steering gear, NOS Moog pitman arm, upper and lower ball joints, Monroe commercial grade Crown Vic gas shocks, fresh alignment. Car goes straight down the road. DRIVELINE - New Cooper Cobra tires, flywheel resurfaced, new Zoom clutch kit, pilot bearing and throwout bearing, trans fluid drained and refilled with fresh, shifter alignment checked, backup light switch adjusted, new spicer U-joints, Ford Racing slip yoke, drive shaft balanced. Rear differential, which is a 3.50 traction lock in an N case has been swapped back and forth a few times with a 4.11 pumpkin I have so there's fresh 80W90 fluid there with Motorcraft friction modifier. INTERIOR - Good used dash pad, dash and heater box disassembled and cleaned, New heater core, blower motor, LED dash cluster bulbs, glovebox liner. Sun supertach II and white face autometer mechanical oil pressure and water temp gauges with LED bulbs. I used the braided stainless flex line for the oil pressure, not copper or plastic. Pioneer Supertuner cassette deck installed in the 80's still works. At least the radio part does. New rear package tray and pioneer 6x9's. New shift boot. ALL the interior lights work. Delay wiper setup. New headlight and high beam switches. Included with the car is an uninstalled, brand new complete upholstery kit that was $865 and took almost 4 months to get. BODY - New roof rail weatherstrip and back glass seal. LED sidemnarker bulbs, taillight/brakelight and reverse light bulbs, reproduction license plate light. One taillight housing is NOS, the other a good used rust free unit. New taillight lens gaskets. All exterior lights AND trunk light all work. All 4 headlights replaced with halogen bulbs. New windshield washer bottle AND pump, new wiper refills in correct wiper frames. All new battery cables, new starter, new battery. The transport company damaged the header panel, grill, grill surreound. I got lucky and a friend scooped up all 3 pieces plus grill surround molding at Carlisle Ford in 2022 so that has been replaced. The header panel is even the right color. I know there is a BUNCH of stuff and work I am forgetting but that's a lot of it. Included with the car is a mint radiator support, solid front wheel wells and a rust free trunk lid. Mechanically the car is very sound. BUT the car needs rust repair, worst of all in the floor pans. Not my talent and not in my budget. Car runs and drives well, goes straight down the road. Has a slight vibration at 55-60mph. I notice it but someone else may not. To put everything that goes with the car all together in one sport, it comes with; Original, rebuildable, VIN matching shortblock. solid cobra jet oil pan Complete upholstery kit replacement rear seat with good framework rust free radiator support and trunk lid clean front fenderwells clean fenders but getting them from Texas is on you unless i can get them here. cast iron square bore cast iron factory intake so you can mount a Holley if you prefer. PRICE - $12,500 and definitely negotiable. Financially I am buried in this car and losing my ass but I new I would be going in. My goal was to save a Torino and make it a useful member of society again. I have a folder about and inch or so this full of receipts. I have a facebook profile for the car (McFords Garage) for all the pics I have and I also have a youtube channel (McFords Garage) with A LOT of videos on the car. ![]() CURRENT PICTURES ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() APRIL 2022 ![]() MAY 2022 ![]() WOODWARD DREAM CRUISE 2023 PURE STOCK DRAGS SEPT 2023 ![]() Edited by mcford - 25-July-2024 at 10:25AM |

Mike, I'm sorry to hear that you have to let that go. That's a very nice car if the rust repair gets done well. I hope you find a great home for it and it lives for a long time.

This looks like an awesome project car Mike. I hope it finds a good home and gets the bodywork it deserves.
