I have a 1970 Ford Torino, with a 429 engine (not original) in my car. I recently had a major tune up on it and now its running worst than before. I sent it back to the shop still not running right. For example, I can only drive it for about 15 minutes, then it will start to vapor lock. The fuel filter is filled with bubbles and the car will just shut off. Can anyone recommend a trustworthy shop in the Southern Maryland area who work on old school cars? I haven't been able to enjoy this beautiful fall weather. Taking you in advance.

Do you have your fuel line near any major heat sources? If you have headers that run close to the fuel lines this could heat up the fuel. Check over the fuel line and make sure it's not getting heated up by touching a hot component. You can also insulate the fuel line.

THANKS VINCE,
I WRAPPED MY FUEL LINES THATS NEAR MY HEADERS, STILL VAPOR LOCKING. A MECHANIC TOLD ME TO TAKE OFF MY GAS CAP AND DRIVE IT TO SEE IF WILL STILL SHUT OFF ON ME. WELL, ONCE I TOOK THE GAS CAP OFF THE CAR RAN FIND. HE SAID I HAVE A BAD GAS CAP. I AM STILL GONNA FINISH WRAPPING ALL OF MY FUEL LINES JUST TO MAKE SURE. THANKS

Do you have the vapor cannister on the frame still? It is a charcoal filter for the fuel system. There was a small aluminum flex tube that went to the air cleaner. If it is gone, it is probably plugged off. A vented cap would help. Did you hear air gettimg sucked into the tank when you removed the fuel cap?
