I am in the process of rebuilding my 68 Torino GT convertible. The inner rockers are different from the inner rockers of other Torino's.
Mine need some serious help. I have looked around and it seems these are not being reproduced. I will have to do some backyard engineering. It appears that the convertible inner rockers have a re-enforcement rectangular tubing added to them.
Have any of you done this replacement on your convertible? If so...ANY input will be helpful...Thanks

IIRC, they are the same for 68-69…… the difference being the torque boxes.  70-71, are longer…. And 72+ are body on full-frame construction.

Thanks for that info Hogfiddles. I am looking for more info on the 68 convertible inner rocker re-enforcement.
I have heard that the old stock car racers would use this piece to stiffen their frames. But I cannot even find a photo of this part.
I am about to weld in some bracing across the door opening and cut out what is left of this piece. Then I will try to duplicate what the factory had done. Mine is rusted enough it will be difficult to tell it's original shape. This being said even a photo would help me reconstruct this part.

Well, I gave up on trying to find a stock replacement. I ended up welding in a chunk of 3x3 square tubing. It is basically a frame connector from the front torque box to the rear. It fit fairly well and should be at least as strong as the factory piece. This car will never be original again, just too much rust. My goal is to make a nice driver.

Post some pics of your modification/solution, and do a detailed write-up. We may just put it in the “how-to” section!
