Hi Gang,

Crazy question but I need this info (yes I scoured the internet and this forum looking for the answer, and I still couldn't find it)

I'm picking up a hood for my 72 sport fastback Torino coupe that I just bought and I need to rent a pickup truck to pick it up.

The biggest bed I could find is about 66 inches in width and 6 feet long (2024 Ram 1500, Quad Cab)

Will a torino hood fit comfortably in a bed that size, or should I bring a bunch of tie down straps in case large portions of the hood don't all fit inside the bed?

                                Thanks in advance....

Should fit in that easily with change…the hoods fit in my Aussie built Falcon pickup tray which you guys would consider midsize at best…

Thanks so much, I feel much better now because I already rented the truck  so now I know I'll be in good shape...

Ditto, the hood fit into my 73 Ranchero with lots of room all around. I just lifted my spare out last week, I now again recall how heavy they are.

Thanks,

I rented a full size truck and I'm hoping Avis gives me that and not a midsized pickup like they did today. I had to rent a pickup to carry a motorcycle and I specifically selected a full size pickup, and they gave me a Toyota Tacoma quad with a 5 foot bed.

I hope like hell that when I pick up the truck tomorrow to get the hood it's a 6 foot or bigger bed.

                                    Thanks for the reply.....

Depending on distance, sometimes a Uhaul or a Home Depot truck are more cost effective and have the size you need on hand.

The Ranchero had a 7' bed so a 4x8 sheet of plywood doesn't quite drop down into it. The hood was not quite out to the sides of the bed inside, wrapped and setting on the wheel wells. I'd guess they are close and under 5' long.

How far are you driving the hood home? When I got my new hood, I brought it home in the Chevy Colorado short bed I had at the time. I had the tailgate down and a ratchet strap keeping it from sliding back. But I was only driving across town and didn't get up to freeway speeds.
