Just google 72 Gran Torino Sport but select images. That is where my avatar came from and has blue laser but I mainly wanted it cause it has slots When my car is done will look close to that but I won't have laser stripe cause my car will only have paint.I am a custom painter so what ever i do will be done in paint and buried in clear smooth as glass so you don't feel anything.

I really like that deep blue starting to rethink my original thought of black.    maybe black with the blue laser strip would look cool.

Here's another one I found on the internet. Might even be someone's Torino on here. In any case this is a beautiful car. Blue cars w/stripes look awesome when new. I have an original black GTS that will be painted this blue combination. I am partial to the blue because I bought one new in '72.

Excellent, thats a good pic. I really want to paint my car black with the blue stripe. Now I can do a photo chop to get a decent idea of how it will look.

Ya know I think that's a Texas car. I've seen it at both the Dallas Autorama and Yellow Rose car shows here in Dallas/Ft Worth. It's pictured in the 2010 Dearborn Classics catalogue. It has a 351 Cobra Jet with ram-air option.

Here's another view I found. I don't care for the Cobra emblems.

I'm ok with it, if it's a Q code Cobrajet, screw it.

I have a Q code, the CJ is in pieces right now, but F it, I'm going to have some fun with people.

I don't have a picture, but I also have a diecast "COBRA" emblem on my dash.

I like that blue, looks sharp. Not wild about the top, but it works.

What color stripe goes on a light pewter metallic? Or was the stripe color something you could choose between?

Not absolutely sure, but I believe you could order the stripe on any color car as long as it wasn't a special order paint (you ended up with the side molding, chrome side view mirror only if it was special order (when the DSO was blank or had a series of numbers); stripe colors were brown, red, green, and blue.  Anyone else have any more specific info?  Paul~

Or, I guess to be more specific-what color would this stripe be described as?
I am guessing Red.

believe that is the red as the stripes start with a light color and end with the darker color that they are listed by
here is the red laser on Paul's car(picon3) certainly looks different unless yours has the color faded in the front as his starts out a gold or yellow/gold color and fades into red

does anyone know if the color of the car effects the shade of the laser stripe colors?? as when you see the laser stripe on the different color cars it seems to be a different shadeof colors

also after looking at the photos Andy posted of the 73 GTS
I like the 72 laser stripe better as Not really digging the stripe over the wheel lip in the front sitting that high on the fender.
I like the 72 stripe alot better with the break at the front wheelwell

Sort of in this vein, I just took the pewter Torino to the shop to have them start on that. Above the laser tripe there are rivit hole from what must have been trim (the shopping cart type) but it is no longer there, was that something that the cars came with or was it put on aftermarket, my guy wants to know if he should just fill the holes or wait for  me to find that trim.

Agreed, that is the red; just faded with time (it's held up amazingly well for almost 40 years)

I don't believe the body trim molding came on the lazer stripe cars from the factory; I believe non lazer stripe cars came with lower trim molding and body trim moldings like Mike's above.  Was your car an original body molding car with a lazer stripe added later?  Paul~

Paul is right, the lazer stripe is supposed to be at the same place as the molding, ditch the caddy pads and go with the stars wars sticker

Marti report says it came with the laser stripe, so it must have been an owner add on/aftermarket.

wonder if that molding could have been a special order.   or the kinda thing were they put it on early built or late built cars   and then changed mid year.
