I've been recently circling the cleveland fuel pump offerings and not finding much of what I like for what is out on the market.
My carter muscle car pump is getting a little long in the tooth, and I plan on replacing it soon, along with a carb swap. {I need to pick up a carb for the '79 f150, and figure GTS carb to truck, and new bigger carb for the GTS }While originally I was looking to see if Edelbrock had a pump for the cleveland, it appears only the windsor family is made by them. Google search, found something on the 335 forum, american made billet, a little spend compared to the holley offerings, but saw this piece and made a call. ![]() My biggest issue has been correct port size. I have not been able to find a pump with a 3/8" NPT inlet like my current pump. They have what appear to be decent filters as well for honestly a really reasonable cost {$25 for a pre-filter, not bad...} ![]() Anyone else with a 351 found a good pump? I just refuse to stick a cheap Taiwan pump on my GTS, period.

Not sure about the Clevelands, but I've got bastardized 172 gph pumps in my F100 and my stroker car using a BBC Carter pump and a BBF pump.

LOL...OK. Humor me, what did you do, use the top half of the ford pump and the bottom block for the chevy?
I just want to have 3/8" ports, very simple. |

Have you considered an electric fuel pump?
I have a Holley carb and I am unhappy with it. I am really considering an autolite 4V. I have a 351C with a mild cam in it. Any ideas? Thanks |

For me, I don't see the need for an electric pump. If I was running a street/strip car, and some crazy engine setup, but I don't see the need for it.
I just want a quality pump that will hold up. I don't want some shiny chrome POS that is going to fail in 2 years. This is the aggravating thing for me. 351C- On your car, without knowing what is going on, it may not be the carb, it could be something else causing it to run poorly. I know from my point, I am not interested in Holley products...I'm jaded because my stepdad was a hard core car guy, and was jaded by a lot of the holley stuff in the 80's and 90's and always would cuss about them. He only would get vintage holley stuff, but you can only rebuild them so many times. I'd probably tell you to get all your car info and start a thread in the engine forum, as by no means am I an expert. I can say I've been good with my edelbrock stuff, but with that said, the 600 performer in my '79 4x4 is a POS, but the 600 performer on my Torino has been about perfect with the exception of being slightly too small. |

Honestly, my old 4 speed car i just used a stock carter pump. that car pulled strong past 6k without any hint of fuel starvation at the pure stock drags. that motor made 400hp on the dyno. take it for what its worth.

I used a Carter AFB (I believe it was a 600 CFM) on my first Torino (74 302 with aftermarket Holley 4V intake, the rest stock) and I really liked it. The float used to get stuck and I remember on several dates, having to get out of the car and bang on the side of the carb with the handle of a screw driver to unstick it. The girls always thought I was trying to pull something... Didn't Edelbrok buy out Carter not too long ago??
