Hi Guys
I know this has been discussed thousands of times. I have looked through threads about what is the best size tires and rims to use. I wish I could remember what I had on my old GTS but memory is not my strong suit. Looking for suggestions. Im using 15x7 4.25 offset front rims and 15x8 4.50 offset rear rims. I want no rake. Just want to fill the well as best I can without any issues. My old GTS I had to deflate the tire to fit it in the rear well. I think I had 295-70 on that car. Right now I have 15x7 4.25 offset rims all around. I have 225-70 on front and 255-70 on the rear. It doesn't look bad to me but the rear tire seems much bigger when looking at it from the side. Rear tire is almost two inches taller. Any help would be appreciated. Im leaning toward 235-70 front and 275-60 rear. |

Find a tire calculator & punch in your sizes.... you'll get rolling diameter & side wall heights etc.... best most accurate way for piece of mind!

Before I purchased my rims and tires, I made an excel spreadsheet with all of my options: Sources:
I also used my photo editing software when I found a couple I liked and virtually put the tire and rims on my Torino to see what they would look like. It's a big investment, so I wanted to spend the time to pick the right option. -Chris |

Did the tire calculator. My sizes will fit. Just looking to see what others have used. I’m not a computer guy. Wish I could see what they would look like but that’s out of my capabilities 🤣

Those sizes you list at the end(235/70 and 275/60) are the same diameter, close within 1/4" or tolerances etc. The math says they match. I have always liked the 60 series better than 70's, and had 245/60's on my first Ranchero. They didn't quite fill the wheel wells as much as I wanted, so I wanted to go slightly bigger. Now after seeing about three examples this past year, I decided on the 255/60/15's since others showed they can fit. The rear also can take a slightly wider tire, so those examples showed me the 275/60's. Everyone has their own idea of a good fit in the wheel well, I hope I agree with them about how they work, not rub in hard cornering, full lock etc.

I am not sure if you decided on tire sizes yet. With 15x7 fronts, you could run 235/60-15s or 245/60-15s front and 275/60-15s rear on your 15x8s. Of course those front tires would be a bit shorter than the rear, but lots of people like that look. I personally run 15x8s with 245/60=15s all as I like the same size tire. 255/60-15s all around would work well too and it's a bit taller/wider tires. We have this thread here which is more for stance, but many cars post their tire size too. This might give you a better idea of what you are want. |
