update on the celica: been working on it a little here and there as time allows.

(second) new windshield installed
new custom aluminum radiator
custom side marker lights installed
new urethane rear suspension bushings installed
upgraded intake system almost ready to go on (waiting on the 40mm DCOE carb to arrive)
body work ongoing...
probably order custom billet 17" wheels from centerline, tomorrow?

Dude you have some pretty cool stuff, I love how there is NO discrimination for you about any of your vehicles.
Car - truck
Import - domestic
V8 - anything else
polished and pretty - not so much but still a blast to drive

You my friend are the definition of a true "Car Enthusiast"

Love the Celica. I've had 4 '77 versions. 3 hatches and a coupe. My favorite version of those cars, hands down. They must have made a crapload of brown ones, as 3 of mine were brown and 1 was blue. The factory paint on those cars was extremely durable and with minimum care would shine for many years.

My dad had a 1973 notch. It was originally a peach color with a landau top, and he took the landau off and repainted it bronze. Left the 1973 bumper guards on because everybody else took them off. Haven't seen one with a custom body kit, or a body kit of any kind except a race version. I think it works.

i think once it's all painted it will look better! picked up my custom made side skirts today from the machine / fab shop (1/8" aluminum) Big smile yeah there's not much offered for those cars, the body kit bumpers are for a 93 honda accord, front one sectioned 6" rear one sectioned 1", head lights are 89 Cadillac deville Wink

the plan is to paint it the same as my step-brother's 74 celica coupe! and we are getting the same custom billet 17" center line wheels! damn, forgot to call and order the wheels Confused Angry

Kind of like the Frankenstein swaps I used to do on Hondas. H23 bottom end with an H22 VTEC head. Normally aspirated, they will fly. Give a little boost and you have a V8 eater. Tried the D15/D16 F swap, but not as impressed.

well today i finally got around to getting the "farm truck" fired up and running again (it hasn't been started for more than 2 years!!) and i replaced some brake components...both new calipers, a new hose and new hard line (several trips to town 25 miles away Angry) BTW this truck originally came with 4 wheel non-power drum brakes! so a few years back i did the '73 and up disc conversion Thumbs Up well worth the effort!!! some day i'll get around to fixing all the body work and get it painted, i've got all the necessary parts and trim to do it, just got to get around to doing it...someday Confused

minor update on the celica:i'm tired of trying to tune that DCOE sidedraft carb, so off it came, and i bought a new cannon torquer manifold with a new weber 38MM outlaw carb and air filter as a matched kit. got it installed and tuned! Big smile took it for a short test drive, still was pulling hard at 70 mph in third gear!!! two more gears left, so it's a considerable improvement over the orig. 32/36mm carb that i had on there Big smileBig smileWinkThumbs Up

no, i've seen them with old school v-8's in them ford and chevy, it's just too hard on the unibody! i think someone swapped in a lexus (which is made by toyota BTW) v-8, but still hard on these unibodys. hell the vega unibody is a lot stronger and a SB chev will twist and rip them apart! ask me how i know Confused besides i've already had to reinforce the front sway bar mounting plates, due to my "californiajohnny" sway bar engineering Wink (tandem sway bars!!) Big smile
