Hi guys . I knew this day was coming.  It was probably discussed before.  I did a search but couldn't find an exact how to. Does anybody have any tricks to doing this enjoyable job? And while I'm there I might as well change the evap coil. -Rick-

no real tricks... just locate and remove the fan housing unit (a nut up by the cowl) and a couple at the bottom. then a few lag size screws and nuts some inside some outside. the hoses. and cable and vac hoses. and  loosen the duct work where it attaches to the box so the box can be removed...

to make the job easy, remove the outer & inner fender, pull the engine and dash

if you're going to change the blower motor, heater core and evap core you might as well go with an aftermarket unit?

i meant the whole dash, to make it easy.

you can work from under the dash and through the glove box hole with the liner out,
i'd pull the dash pad just to be able to see what you're doing.

but really, you're replacing the fan and 2 cores why not just pitch the PITA engine bay plenum and put in a Vintage Air box?

do you think the evap core really needs to be swapped?

If the evap coil makes it a game changer than its just fine.

Just looked at the manual.  Makes more scents when you see pics.  Basically split the air box in the car to access the h.c.  Actually doesn't look that hard. I'll remove the pass seat probably easier that way . Thanks cj and rock

like Johnny said, there are some that you need to get from the engine side of the firewall

and some that you get from the interior. it sucks

iirc the inside ones are down along the bottom of the box by the tranny hump and the rest outside worst is the one straight up to the cowl, not bad if you know where it isWink remove the fan box then the rest aren't too bad, you don't need to remove the outer a/c box unless you change the evap core.
worst part is the peg clips holding the vent tubes to the box inside, they pop out but getting to a couple are a bit of a pain, just remove only the part of the vent system needed to get the box offWink

Thanks for all the info.  I will advise the family not to enter the garage while I'm doing this

I'm sure you will get it done with little trouble. I don't remember how much it was to get the dashes out of my two when I swapped the interiors, I don't think it was that bad or I'd recall more. I have messed with some 90's dashes that were no fun, they had more wiring and more little bolts holding it all in.

Do wear some gloves, they will help with some sharp edges that will scratch your hands along the way.
