Thank you 72FordGTS for the award. You guys have a great forum and support from your followers.
Update on repairs: I had most all of the hoses, belts and seals repaired with the exception of the rear main seal. Going to have to put some money back for that repair. I was unaware that when my Dad had the 2 barrel carburetor changed to a 4 barrel he did not change out the kick down rod for the transmission. I have been in contact with a company online that makes them after a long struggle trying to find one locally. I will post some pictures ASAP. Thank you again for the recognition. These cars don’t get the attention that they deserve. David Blackbetty72

If it has the Holley carb, Holley has the right piece to make the factory kickdown rod work.

I was able to use my factory kickdown rod without the extension John used. Just need a slight bend by hand to tweak it and it fits and works perfectly.

Nice choice. If you're interested, you'll be able to fab one up using a piece of metal.
A 4" square electrical box cover can be measured, cut, drilled and bent to fit.

The December 2022 Car of the Month is longtime member "Fordpower's " (Bob's) 1979 Ford LTD II Sport Bob's LTD is a really stellar example that has never seen snow. His car is powered by a 351W, has air-conditioning and still retains it's stock 2.45:1 9" differential. He repainted a few years ago and it looks very sharp. Bob has brought his LTD II to the Kentucky Nationals , Moonshine Festival, and Syracuse Nationals shows. He reports that it runs well on long highway trips. Congrats Bob and lets hope to see more pics of your fine Ford going forward. Thanks to Hogdfiddles for supplying the above photo.

The January 2023 Ride of the
Month is long time member "Uante's" Brent's 1973 Ford Gran Torino Brougham 2-door hardtop.
Brent originally owned a 1973 Gran Torino when in 1979 and purchased his current '73 Gran Torino Brougham in 2009. His GTB is painted in 6F gold flow paint and has a 351C 2V engine and automatic transmission. The car is well option and it has A/C, power locks, brown vinyl top, visibility group, AM/FM Stereo radio, rear window defrost. Brent has done lots of work on his car over the years and has made some cosmetic changes to it that certainly gives it a great street machine vibe. Congratulations Brent! Take a look at all the great work Brent has done to his Torino to transform it into the machine we see here today. His Project thread is here: Here are some pics of Brent's Torino. The first pic is how it looked shortly after he bought it followed by how it looks today. |
