Here it is
86000 miles, Q code, C6 auto, 3.25 open rear, power steering, factory magnums, bench seat, with instrumentation group. I am 3rd owner. Original owner replaced original motor and transmission with a 429 and a new C6. I did't get any info on the new motor.
I also got the original motor and trans with the car. It's is tucked away in the shop.

Hello everyone.  I am the son that bought this gem of a car for my father. The story is I remember being young and looking through photo albums with my dad where he had pictures of his 72 GTS.  Got a really good picture of him with shaggy hair leaning on the hood looking real tough LOL I spent a lot of time with him on the weekends working on tractors and lawn mowers, my brother and I’s go kart and the family vehicles. We also spent just about every Saturday morning watching powerblock and heard my dad constantly talking about how he would love to have a car that is when I told myself if I could ever get him a car I would do everything I could to make it happen. I ended up joining the Air Force in 2016 and had to move away but thankfully I was still in the states.  A few years ago while I was deployed my gf found me my car.  A 1964 Galaxie XL convertible and she fronted the money for them to hold it for me until I came home. My dad and I had so many conversations about it that it really got me thinking about a car for him again. My gf and I make a trip labor day weekend every year to Arkansas for chuckwagon races and stop by Iowa for a week afterwards to see my family. This year I had just sold my house in NJ and had some money in my pocket and thought I would just look and see if anything was out there for sale.  Auto trader and google yielded minimal results but a Torino facebook page turned up one in Monona Iowa.  5 hours from my parents house.  Never had I found one in such great shape so close to home. I figured it was fate so I contacted the seller and he said no one wanted to give him the money for it. He told me about the car I decided it was atleast worth going to look at.  I talked with my gf about going to see the car and she said “Let’s go”. I met with owner and checked out the car. I crawled all around it and under it looking for rust.  None found. Few rock chips and a dent in the passenger side rocker but for the most part and super nice car.  Add on it came with the original 351 Cleveland and c6, an engine stand, and engine hoist and had a newer 429 and c6 in the car I was sold.  I drove it the 5 hours home and parked it at my sisters house until everyone was home and I could surprise him with it.

The car is a 2 owner car. My dad is the 3rd owner.  It had the marti report and manuals and books and even a couple of Tshirts with it. It runs so good. I love the car but better yet he loves it.  It’s not identical to his car but it’s pretty close and he and mom can go scoop the loop in it.  We have some pictures of it we will try to get put up and even the old pictures of dad with his first car.

Love this story, this will definitely be an experience both you and he will always remember.  Please do post the pictures of your dad and his old car and him with the new one.  It sounds like both you and your dad are very lucky to have such a strong relationship, it is very heartwarming to hear stories like this and thanks for sharing.  -   dave

Very touching.  Your father definitely raised you right.  I'd love to see a video of him first setting eyes on the car. Great job!!!
