My 76 Ranchero has the remote control dual sport mirrors on it. The one on the passenger side flops around like it is a beauty queen in a parade just waving to everyone in sight. The divers side is only marginally better. I guess I have gotten spoiled with the electric mirrors in my daily and that got me to thinking. Why can't ours be retro fitted with the small motors in the newer electric mirrors? I understand that the housing on the sport mirrors are small, so the donor would have to come from a car with small mirrors also.

Am I the only one that has thought about this?

I wish there was a good option, I have thought about it before too. The old mirrors are tiny compared to most later models that have power controls.

My wish was to find a later power mirror that was similar in shape to the sport mirrors, but larger of course. I haven't seen anything which looked promising.

The plate that holds the ball to the mirror housing itself can be tweaked to stiffen it up. I haven't done it in years. I used folded up match books folded and jammed in there back in high school. Will the screws come out? I would probably cross my fingers and hope I don't break anything.
