Hey guys, I dont have any voltage going to my coil. Wheres a good place to start tracing this down? Its strange because I pulled the car in the garage ,began my brake work, installed a new fuel tank and went to start it and it will turn over but wont fire. I pulled the plug wire from the coil to the distb. and no spark. So then I put my meter to the terminal points where the wires connect on the coil switched on the key even turning the motor over and still no voltage. Thanks in advance for any help.

Does anyone know of a discussion on here about the coil voltage on a 75 Gran Torino. I had an issue with the car not firing. Found the clip the goes on the coil cracked not making good connection. I ordered a new clip but in the mean time was able to get it started.  Started right up several times after that, let it sit for a day went back out to start and all it would do is turn over. I know Im getting fuel to the carb.  Does anyone know under what conditions there should be voltage on the coil and and how much voltage at start and during run. I appreciate any help and thank you guys in advance.

                 Thanks,
                        Ken

That almost sounds like a problem with your ignition module. Sometimes it starts...sometimes it doesn't. The cracked clip might not be helping things out. I'd pull the module and check it out.

I had the same problem with my S&H replica. It ended up being the ignition module.

Don't leave the ignition switch out of the equation. I had a car that ran just fine with a loose coil sitting on the manifold.

Hey guys, thanks for all the responses. I did get it figured out with the help of my electronics guy. Hes the one that built all the custom electronics for KITT. Apparently the dash cluster has to be in so the car will start. Looking thru some more extensive and detailed prints I found that the ignition circuit runs thru the tach. When I jumped out the 6 pin connector  going to the cluster it started right up. I was kinda baffled when it would start then it wouldnt. Had the cluster out to clean it and check the gauges because my fuel gauge and temp gauge are not reading correctly. I should add that this is a cluster from a 76 and mine is a 75 so Im sure something will need to change. Again thanks for everyones help, this forum is a great resource for tech support  and guidance. Thanks,
    Ken

I had Instrument Specialties out of Rhode Island convert my dash voltage limiter to solid state a few years ago.  It works better than new.
