Hello forum. The pictured jack is what came with my 72 GTS. Is it the original? It looks a bit different from what I have seen on the ‘net.

That looks close to the original jack, but a 72 should have a small hook that goes into the bumper slot. That jack looks like it hooks under a bumper not in a slot.

That looks to be what I have in mine. They really suck and bend the bumpers. I always keep a small bottle jack and chock block in the trunk.

Ditto. The original jack Chris linked to is correct for the 72 Gran Torino, but I also suggest avoiding using it for the front bumper. It does make the bumper push up into the body(grille trim) and can cause damage depending on how high you lift the car, terrain used etc. The rear bumper is very stout, no trouble there, but the front is not.

Going by memory, that appears to be correct. The only difference is mine was painted black, this one seems to be dark blue (maybe a bad pic).

I think I found the original jack!👍 See below….no tire iron though…
Amazing what you find in your parts stash! The earlier jack is for a Mercury Cyclone……

I forgot the story about my Dad's Torino falling on him when he had it jacked up. Cool to keep in the trunk as part of the package. But, be careful with these old jacks. -Chris
