Anyone near the Northeast area that may have a 72 Gran Torino wagon they may want to sell?
Just curious, I was thinking it would be cool to have one.  I do not mind projects either.
Let me know.  Would also consider 73-76.

Last year you could have had a 73 for free. I think it is scrapped now but will look this week.

This one just came up for sale here locally in Dallas on Craigslist.  It is not mine and may be too far for you, but thought I'd share with you.

Hi,
I appreciate the lead but that would be too far for me.  I am looking in the northeast, specifically the New England area (Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts and Connecticut).  Thank you!

If you find one far away without much rust, that would be far cheaper in the long run to go get it. The time and trouble of fighting rust is massive compared to transporting a better one.

Good luck with the hunt, I'd love to see a classic old Gran Torino station wagon. They were very interesting no matter what.

I agree that rust is a lot of work to get rid of.  I wouldn't want to buy another car without seeing it in person though.  If the car is outside driving distance then it would be too far.
I bought a couple cars off of ebay years ago and would not ever buy something that I cannot see before the purchase.
I will keep an eye out and if it is outside the NE area, I might take a trip to see it.

A Texas car has every chance to be rust free, and, unlike AZ cars, it probably still has good rubber and vinyl pieces. A Torino wagon was designed for road trips, and that one seems the perfect candidate.

As an aside, I married a girl from Rhode Island. Her idea of "driving distance" and mine were literally miles apart. I grew up in the "flyover states" where going to the mall is a 200 mile round trip. So 500-700 miles (about 10 hours) is what I consider "driving distance". I agree, Texas from New Hampshire is a bit further than that.

Communication is a big key, if you could trust what you are told or can see, than the distance isn't a huge problem.

I bought my spare 73 Ranchero on eBay, and never planned to drive it that far. I was after the rust free body, so the North Las Vegas home for most of its life, was my trusted basis to buy it. It cost a little over $1200 to ship it, which was okay given the sales price.

If you are after a project vehicle without expecting it to drive reliably now, than the shipping cost is a key. I would avoid driving a 50 year old vehicle for the first time, any real distance. I watch Road Kill, those guys are nuts and always break down, plus the many illegal or stupid decisions they make along the trip.

Okay, I have been looking but no luck.  I could stretch out the distance some if someone has come across one for sale in their area.  Let me know.  Thanks!!

Those are super rare. Try to find the best one you can, from 1972-76, and then figure out how to get it home.

UPDATE!
I have purchased a 1973 Gran Torino wagon.  I found it in Florida.  Looks very solid.  Original owner has had it in his garage since 1981 when he attempted changing the transmission.  He had the transmission rebuilt but when he reinstalled it, it leaked.  He got frustrated, parked it and bought a new car.
It is supposed to be here in NH by 8/9.  I will keep you guys posted.  I will upload a picture.

Excellent, it looks great. I hope it's really solid and complete, with nice interior parts. The outside has the high option trim and it looks very straight. Well done.
