The grille would be more than $400 for NOS, the surround I don't know, they don't pop up in any condition alone. I had the outer aluminum trim myself I got from Ford, $40 in the late 80's. I'd like the surround, my two are typical that came with the front ends I got in about 1987.

The parts value is subjective, but load up pictures when you can.
I've sold my share of surround trim and grill surrounds, but I have wiped out my collection in 2022. I see no reason if it's NOS in the box and the trim is only due for a polish from shelf wear, these days I can completely see $500+ starting bid on eBay. It makes me cringe to say that but I am also just being realistic on something like this. The plastic surround, it's the same situation. If it's NOS in the box with minor shelf wear, no damage and just needs a dusting, it's worth the money. You can try eBay as a reference, but man you REALLY have to watch the bidders. Between the scammers on there and Facebook market place, it's become a real problem these days. One of the reasons I've given up trying to sell off the remaining stock of stuff unless it's people I know or friends of people I know that can be verified.

I did sell the grille trim that I had. It was NOS. No box but wrapped in newsprint. I got $500 no haggling at all. The one on my ranchero is fine. It’s going to driven so the grille and surround that I have for it are good enough. But I’m not sure what I’ll do with this new stuff yet. Thanks for all of your help. I appreciate it.

It's still good to know that some people have saved so many things. I collected comic books for ages, not for money but just the enjoyment. Selling off anything that old is tedious and not fun, it's not about the money for most of us.

The surround is also one thing that might be good to 3D print. The visible surfaces aren't special so they could be sanded smooth easily and painted. But it is a rather large and thin part, it would be difficult to create the 3D information, and take a long time to create. The grille is what I thought someone would have made by now.

i've had it in my mind to make a surround, deeper than stock out of metal, but it's hard to work with where i'm at ATM so it could be a while longer |

The issue is having a 3D printer with a big enough bed to do it in a single session.
I've wanted to get a 3D printer cable of doing 72-73 Rally Cluster housings and the trim panel. It would be great though to 3D print out new surrounds. After seeing some stuff on lost foam casting, I have often pondered how hard it would be to make new surround moldings out of aluminum.

AL would be sweet, plastic is too fragile at that thickness so any force cracks them. I hadn't thought of trying to make one from sheet metal, that could work if the front edge part was shaped right.

Those are beautiful, and the boxes are typical aged, I have had a few like that. My grille trim box was warped from heat in a shed for ages, I think I left it in the box, but put it in my spare room. I'd still like a new surround, but taxes were bad for me this year.

Does anyone know Jay Leno, he has some wild tools for manufacturing many kinds of out of obsolete parts. He could scan anything from what I saw of a recent program of his shop, but what I saw was for making metal parts for various old cars. The 3D printer would have to be exceptionally large for a two foot long object.

There is a helicopter flying around on Mars ,
pretty sure there is a 3d printer that can handle that part ! Wondering about the licensing problems some people were having a dozen or so years ago when 3d printing first came out . I know GM stopped a few people dead in their tracks when they went to scan / produce and sell old obsolete GM parts . Anyone know if that problem has been resolved ??? I’m all for the technology and abilities of modern tools !!! Let’s start making lots of hard to find parts !!!!!!

I thought about that too many years ago when 3D printing became popular and common. Then from 2020 it's obvious that most manufacturers stopped producing tons of parts. Now it looks clear that they will never make a lot of those again. So it's tougher to find parts, and since they dropped the business of producing countless critical parts, I bet they won't easily stop them from coming from elsewhere.

We have a couple of people on the forum who have done some 3D printing, so it'd be great if we could get these parts done. I think JRANGER is working on a Grille for his car and Spriegel has done the 3D printed quarter window seals. Maybe one of those guys could help with this project?

That’s the oddest thing I’ve even been told to call someone……. Usually it’s ‘call me Twiggy’, or ‘call me Bagger’, or even ‘Call me Irresponsible’. But heck, I guess 24601 worked pretty good.
