I wasn't sure where to post this topic but figured it would be safe in the basement.
I currently drive a flex fuel pickup and don't worry about methanol added to the pump gas. I will be concerned once I have a car in the driveway. Anyone have suggestions as to finding ways to keep the stuff from eating the rubber parts? Edited by handsofstone - 27-April-2018 at 11:36AM |

replace the old school rubber with modern PTFE type
many rubber components are not available in PTFE so it might be a good idea to stock up Edited by Rockatansky - 27-April-2018 at 11:53AM |

Thanks. I have work to do in a couple of weeks with any luck, I'm hoping it is already done. I will look for a Holley to rebuild then replace the motorcraft when the hoses get done.

I use 1oz for every 5 gallons; all year long. Not just as a stabilizer.

Does all the fuel in your area have ethanol in it? I know in my location, just regular has 10% but lots of stations have no ethanol in their premium fuel (like Shell). So, I have been running ethonal free in my Torino for years.
Otherwise, like Rock said above, you just need to upgrade to the modern PTFE rubber, which is probably a good idea regardless.

Yeah, every station has 10% ethanol. Just realized my typo in OP. Vince, have you changed out rubber fuel parts to PTFE?

Yes, I upgrade the rubber lines in my fuel system. Even though I avouid the ethanol fuel, the old rubber needed to be replaced anyway. I am running a modern carb, so I didn't do anything to it.
