Check out this video on a super rare 1972 Montego GT with the Cyclone package.

For those that don't know, the Cyclone was an option package in 1972 and it was available on the Montego GT and the Montego MX. It was essentially very similar to the Torino Rallye equipment option package, with the addition of the ram-air on the Cyclone and the Cyclone badging/decals. Ram Air a separate option for the Torino that was briefly offered but canceled early in the model year.

Of the 30 Cyclone cars produced in 1972, 20 were Montego GTs with 429s, 9 were Montego GTs with 351-4Vs and only 1 was an Montego MX with the 351-4V.

The commentary on the video isn't the best, but its worth watching to see a very cool and ultra rare car.

Edit:  Update, this may not actually be an actual Cyclone.  I was talking with IanG our resident Montego expert, and he said this was a factory test car, which is still pretty cool.  He said the decals are in the wrong places and are actually reproduction deals put on by the previous owner (Ian sold the decals).

Happy new year to everyone.
Yes, long story on this car as we have know about it for many years and few different owners. Lots of inaccurate statements on that video.
To start with it is NOT one of the Cyclone optioned cars. It is a documented Ford Test vehicle produced a couple of months after the Cyclone run. Still a very nice Montego GT. The Ram air was added later. The decals were reproduced by a member of the registry and given to the previous owner who restored the car. Yes, RESTORED. It is NOT a survivor as stated in the video. We have the pictures and the owner knows it. It's the guy doing the interview who spouts the inaccuracies to the frustration of the owner. Spoke with the owner and he was not happy how the video was done.
The decals are in the wrong locations and the Montego GT badges would not be there. In fact the holes in the fenders and trunk lid would not be there. Wheels are not original nor available as an option on the Montego GT. Dealer or previous owner added. Wrong dash face.
Owner is a super nice guy I've know for a few years and I helped him with finding some parts for it after he got it.
Thanks Vince for finding this and forwarding to me.

OK. So many questions regarding this car so here we go;
This car is NOT one the 29 GT based Cyclone Optioned cars. It was ordered as a Ford test vehicle. It is one of the 5820 Montego GT produced in 1972.
This car was a Home Office Reserve order and was built Dec 6, 1971. 2 months AFTER the run of Cyclone optioned cars. Order placed November 1971.
429 auto
3.25:1 Traction Lock
4Q Dark Green Metallic paint
F5 White Knitted bucket seats w/green components. Console floor shift.
H78x14 white sidewall tires w/ trim rings and center caps
Visibility Group
Front bumper guards
Power Steering and power front disk brakes
Air conditioning
Rear window defrost
AM Radio w/ Dual rear speakers
Tinted Glass
Competition Suspension

Magnum 500 wheels added later. It came with trim rings and center caps and whitewall tires.
Ram Air added later
Decals were reproduced by a registry member ( who actually owns a genuine Cyclone optioned car) and given to previous owner who placed them incorrectly. Paint stripes at bottom of rockers is incorrect and done by previous owner who restored the car. True Cyclone optioned cars had no holes in the fenders for the chrome Montego GT badges. Same on the trunk lid. These chrome badges were not installed on Cyclone optioned cars. Only the decals. Only chrome badge was the "Mercury" one on the nose and the standard GT badge in the grill ( which is actually a '66 Fairlane GT badge). The dash badge above the glovebox would have "Cyclone" in place of "Montego GT"
Woodgrain dash panel is incorrect and added (later Cougar part). It came with an AM radio w/dual rear speakers not an AM/FM/8 track. The front door speakers were added later.
Car was disassembled and restored by previous owner. ( we have the pictures in the records)
There have been at least 3-4 owners.

I am in no way trying to take anything away from this beautiful car or the owner who is a fantastic guy. Just correcting many inaccuracies that have been floating around.
