I'm in the process of reassembling a 1969 GT basket case that I purchased late last year. I recently started on the bucket seats and found that the driver's side frame and springs are rusted beyond repair. The car came with new seat foam and upholstery, so I'd like to find an original frame to recover. These are hard to come by, but I was able to locate a pair from a 1967 Fairlane. The trim is obviously different, and they don't have head rests, but does anyone know if the frames are the same? Are there other models I could substitute? TIA

I can't say 100% they are the same, but from the parts catalog they appear to be. This diagram groups the 1966-70 seats into one diagram, so I would think structurally they are the same.  |

Thanks Vince! The way I read that, the seat tracks are the same, but the seat itself matches Mustang and Falcon, which I believe are narrower. Not the answer I was hoping for, but it's the answer. Thanks again.

I cropped the diagram a little too high. That title that says 1966/67 Ford, Fairlane, Mustang and Falcon at the top of the photo is not for the seat diagram. The correct title is the bottom, which says it is the seats for the 66/70 Fairlane/Torino and 66/70 Falcon

The seats and seat tracks usually have common mounting patterns, so you can swap a lot of seats to different tracks. The tracks need to match the application though, it's hard to adapt a track to a vehicle it's not made for.
I'll be trying that in my 73 with seats and tracks from a 1988 Supra. I'm also going to try that with a Continental track into my Mark VII, it's a memory seat track(they have special motors with location sensors in them).

wasn't really that hard  i'm not sure exactly what the floorboard geography of the 69 is but The Man In Black said anything will fit with an adapter kit. i came up with a pair of seats from a Plymouth Laser and angle stock donated from a highway horse. one angle fab'd to fit the floor and another inverted to mount the seat to. nuts welded to on side and bolts through the other make it incredibly adjustable. the low profile of the Laser seats and the riser provided by the mount makes the seat sit about perfect, and they're solid AF    -

Adapting tracks, I think, would be the easy part. I've done it before. My hang-up is that I have new foam and upholstery, so I want frames that I can recover with what I have.

I think taking measurements would be wise as I can't say for certain they are the same, despite the diagram. If the price is right and the measurements check out, I think I'd take a chance.
