Topic: 1970 Torino GT Parts Car!Posted: 26-June-2024 at 10:15AM |
![]() Hi, I am selling a 1970 Ford Torino GT for a friend. It was his father’s, but it is in “parts car” condition as it has sat out in the weeds for decades. The exterior is brown; I think that was the actual paint color but there is lots of surface rust with surprisingly little rust-through on panels above the dirt. A lot of the chrome trim is present and in relatively good condition, this includes “Torino”, “351”, “GT” emblems and more . The interior is in bad condition, honestly. An animal with a taste for classic cars dug through the floor, as the Torino was literally in the dirt. The result is a hole under the drivers seat and dirt throughout the interior of the car. This abode is vacated, though, but there lots of old beer cans and related items between the seats. On a positive note, both front bucket seats and the rear bench are still there, as is part of the dash including steering wheel and column, heater and vents, radio, and more.
The engine is Ford’s 351 Cleveland with a 4-barrel Autolite carb. The engine ID tag confirmed this is an M-code 1970 351C. If you don’t know what M-code means (I didn’t) it refers to Ford’s high performance 351C built only in 1970 and 1971 with 11:1 compression, large valves, high performance camshaft, and 300 HP. If you wanted a more powerful 351C, you would have to buy a Mustang Boss 351. The engine in the Torino is not in optimal condition, but it appears to be complete except for a radiator. Interestingly, this Torino came equipped with a Shaker hood scoop. The hood and air cleaners have the opening for it, but we suspect the scoop is in the locked trunk, which we will try to get open. I will include the photos I have, but if anyone expresses interest I could go and take some more detailed photos. As I said, this Torino is for sale, I will price it at $1000 to start, but I let me know if you think a different price would be more accurate or appropriate. It would be really nice if someone just bought the whole thing. I will need to learn how to ship it, and I can help load it. Let me know questions, thoughts, comments, etc. |

I would be happy to help ship it... I don't know how to do that but I am willing to learn.
I also realized we have four mostly complete "Ford Motor Company" hubcaps in good condition from the Torino. I don't know what those are worth. As I mentioned, I am flexible on the price, I will definitely consider offers.

Hi,
Thanks for expressing interest. It is still there. We have not done anything further to it. It is parked at an off-roading custom shop in the country not too far from Rochester, MN. The place is 4x4 Unlimited; I believe they have a website you can check out for exact address. My friend Rod can get you in touch with the owner of the shop, whose dad's car it is. Rod's email is rodneymell@gmail.com |

Hi,
As far as I remember the trunk looked good, but as it was locked I don't know what the inside condition is like. I just got the car sold to someone, that is why I did not respond sooner. I do not know if he intends to part it out or what. His email is sclouks@hotmail.com You can give him an email if you are interested. Thanks for your interest!

Hi there! I'm wondering if this car is still available to purchase? I'm a teen that's wanting to restore this car and drive around during high school and when I'm grown up. This car is very cool to me and would be a great project for me and my friend to restore.

Hi Noah!
This car is not still for sale, unfortunately. I have helped sell it to a man who will try to use it as a parts car for another Torino he has. This car would not have been a good candidate for restoration. It had been literally sitting in the dirt for 40 years, and the frame and floor pans were very rusted through. It would have been very expensive to fix these, the interior was not in good shape at all, and the engine was rusty and would have been full of water. There were good parts on it, trim, maybe body panels, chrome bits, steering column, etc. These are what give it value as a parts car, but it would have been prohibitively expensive to restore structurally. Like you, I am a young guy and I appreciate and empathize with your desire to have a cool old car to drive around in. When I am bored in class I check out ClassicCars.com, and they have a lot of classics for under $5000 that have solid frames and are in restorable and drivable condition that you could buy. That's what I would advise doing. Keep in mind though, it costs to ship cars. Thanks for your interest!
