I was able to find where I put my old one. The rubber boot got torn when I removed it from the car. I'm not sure the condition of the joint because when I replaced it, it was just because I had to replace steering box, so "while I was in there" on a part of unknown age and condition.
I can't decide if I should hold on to it since I'll never be able to find another, or if I should sell it.

Whatever you decide, don't throw it out. If you don't keep it as a spare, at lease put it up for sale in the forum. I try to keep a stock pile of extra parts, especially the hard to find ones, for my car.

Yeah don’t toss it.... even if there’s no repairs available for a given part—- sometime, somebody is gonna figure out how to do it.....

I was worried I had thrown it out, so I was excited to find it. It will definitely not go in the trash, knowing what I know now!

If you have a spare…I’d highly consider sending off to rare parts to refurbish. Then you have a spare of a very hard to find part.

I have located a spare Pitman arm I had. I am going to send it off to Glen at Rare Parts and have them take a look at it for rebuilding.
I replaced mine with an NORS (new old replacement stock) pitman arm when I did my Lares 841 upgrade. I will update back when I can. Side note: Man, Chevy/GM trucks seem to break a lot of pitman arms, YouTube is loaded with nothing but videos on repairing broken bow tie stuff

Sounds great Andy! Let us know how the rebuilding goes. Does anyone on the forum need a pitman arm? We can keep a look out for one. -Chris

Message back from Glenn at Rare Parts:
Good morning Andrew, Thank you for the referrals! This is an active rebuild part number for us now. We had a local customer drop one off in May and we have been rebuilding these since. We charge $165.03 retail + shipping to rebuild these pitman arms. We estimate the rebuild time to take about 2 weeks once we receive it and get it in line with other builds. |

Andy, I went ahead and sent this spare pitman arm I have off to Rare Parts. I spoke with Glen this week and he said they definitely do the remanufacturing of the Torino P/S pitman arms now. I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks,
Chris |

Good news Chris. Thanks for the update.
I’ve had one I’ve been wanting to send out to Glenn but I’ve been dealing with too many proverbial irons in my fire.

Quick update. I sent off a Gran Torino power steering pitman arm to Rare Parts. The process was very easy, and they turned around the part in just a couple of weeks. Glen at Rare Parts told me they have seen an increase in Torino requests and now setup to reman these - thanks Andy! Note - you do need to send them a core in order for them to reman the part. He explained their process is:

This is fantastic, thank you Chris. I still have my original Pitman arm, so I may have to send it to be refurbished too. Seems like the best option so far. Do you mind saying what rare parts charges?
