I have a complete 4 speed set up available for swap until I get to that point in my build. If I don't swap it, I will install it into my car.

NOTE: LOCATED IN NEVADA, TX.

Seeking: Rebuilt, and warrantied (if possible) FMX. (Alternatively $ required to attain same transmission without core).

No Shift knob, I only have the knob from my very first torino, I will be keeping that.
No Speedo cable.

Parts I am offering, all new unless stated:
  • 1972 RUG-BF 1 Top Loader, with Bell- David Kee Master Kit (seals, synchros, bearings, etc) installed with new 2nd and 3rd gears.
  • MDL Conversion pedal.
  • MDL Brake pedal pads.
  • New driveshaft yoke.
  • New shifter boot with trim
  • NEW reproduction Z-bar assembly with rods, mounts, etc. Complete.
  • 2.5" hole bellows seal for clutch rod.
  • Refurbished clutch fork, with new boot.
  • Throw out.
  • 11" clutch
  • SBF Flywheel
  • primered Automatic tunnel hump OR unfinished 4 speed hump with reverse light cable.
  • Original shifter, with a Hurst rebuild kit. (not installed).
  • Linkage hardware, new.
  • Floor shift steering column, refinished black, includes turn signal switch, no lever.
  • NiB Black formal roof carpet set for floor shift
  • If something's not listed here, I probably have it.

Man that's a deal for someone.

I have to ask, why the fmx? The one I had in my 73 mustang worked well, but as a whole they seem largely unloved and undesired.

I've got the c4 that was included with my project, that was supposedly rebuilt with the converter still in plastic, but I doubt you're interested in that.

Mostly because that's what was original. (I actually have one in a parts car). I have never had an issue with an FMX in any car that i can recall. I have had poor experiences with a C6, and an AOD. It's also more about hunting down pieces to fit it. looking for correct pieces, such as levers, cables, cooling lines, etc. I would consider an AOD if it comes with ALL the pieces including at least a 3.25 28 spline 9 inch center section.

My ‘76 Gran Torino 4dr that I had back in the late 80’s had an FMX……the trans went bad—lost 2nd gear. Had it repaired, and two weeks later, it lost reversed.  Had it repaired AGAIN, and after that, it didn’t go bad again……

Only trouble I can recall ever having was the modulator going bad on a couple of them. This includes my Dad's vehicles.
The AOD I had trouble with was in a 92 Lincoln Mark VII LSC, the bushing went on the throttle cable which eventually burnt it up.

That AOD's TV cable is critical to the trans, those plastic bushings eventually fall apart, about 20 years is too long to expect them to last. Without the TV cable set right, the line pressure is way too low and it creates slippage. There is a metal replacement bushing, some trans part suppliers have it.

I know your post is now almost a year old but I am thinking about converting my 72 Ranchero GT to a manual.  Do you still have these parts?  BTW, what is in the car now is a rebuilt C6 with a Gear Vendors overdrive.  Everything is all new, complete and never used.  I purchased the car as an abandoned project from the previous owner who had big plans.

You may not have seen his response above, but it is not sold.  I have upgraded you to a new member so you have full forum privileges now. You will be able to send him a Private Message to work out the details.

I do have one question for you.  You have a C6 with a gear vendors.  Does this fit the the car without having to modify the floor pan?  Do you have any pics of the setup installed?
