My 69 Ranchero column shifter is loose and won't stay in park or neutral. Is there a known cause/solution? Thank you. jh

Have you checked the detent in the column for wear? Check over the linkage and the pin that holds the shifter in place too.

Thank you for the reply. I don't know that my column has detents, will check. Shift handle pin was previously replaced to include shoulder brass bushings. All of the plastic bushings have now been replaced, special tool was needed. The cross link had a plastic bushing on the frame side that was trapped in the welded assembly, now replaced by a brass bushing and re-welded. The special tool resembles the Ford Manual tool, except has keyhole type slots on both jaws of the vise-grip plier. I will attempt to attach sketches.
