Does anyone have pictures of the back side of the 77-79 polycast wheels? And maybe some pics of a nekkid wheel (without tires)? I've tried searching the interwebs, but can only find a front shot of it.

So the plastic is stuck to the metal? There's no way to peel it off, widen the wheel and then reapply the plastic?

Because of the poly cast facing, you can't swap the center of the wheel to a wider hoop. You would have to split the hoop on the inboard side and add a section. This adds width to the inside only. you also have too be VERY careful about heat buildup, as the poly melts easily, (catches fire too!!!!)

Thanks guys. I found a guy semi locally who widens wheels. Need to send him pics to see what he thinks. I figured he'd have to add it to the rear section of the wheel. Need to see if there's enough room for that. Might have to add a small spacer.

Jeff, yes they can be widened.
They cut the rim, insert a width of steel and 2 full length welds. What is the current backspace of the stock wheel? Widen it to get to 10" or whatever and the add a CORRECT spacer block. I'll get you a link. |

Stockton Wheel went out of business for a while a few years back. Then suddenly they popped back up again. Don't know if the same family is still running it or what. My understanding was that the business owner died. Again, I do not know the story, but if Stockton if back up as the same family and doing the same quality of work, I have heard nothing but really good things about them.

You know, the rear shot of the wheel reminds me of the CVPI vented wheel.
