Anyone know if this is the correct sending unit? Waited a long time to get it... on the website it shows for 72-76 Gran Torino/Torino but the box says "Wagon"
I'm going to be really irritated if it wont fit my 76 Elite - a coupe. Didnt the wagons have a different tank arrangement or are they the same?
I dont want to even open it because they may refuse return. I dunno. Maybe I'm overthinking it. Says nothing about STATION WAGON in the listing.

The wagon tank is behind the left rear quarter panel under the window. It sits upright. The Elite tank would be the same as the Gran Torino coupe or sedan, so that sending unit should be the easiest to find. The image you included looks exactly like the image on the eBay listing for the sending unit I bought for my wagon.
1972 Gran Torino station wagon, light blue, 351C 2V, prior owner upgraded to 4V (2V heads), originally had a C4 but prior owner changed to C6 for some reason.

I thought it was an upright tank and I finally opened it and it only makes sense if its upright (how the float sits)
Very irritated that they list it as base/normal and it arrives reading clearly WAGON on it.
I'm annoyed as Rockauto doesnt carry any near as I can tell. Maybe I need to look different models 72-76.

They better cover shipping. 😒

Yeah this company is now trying to charge me a restocking fee to get a return.
Am I being unreasonable in assuming the part was for my car when it is listed "72-76 Torino" and I receive a part that says "For Station Wagon" on it.
The notes and sub models say NOTHING about "Station Wagon". So annoying.
Here is the listing

it's hidden in the listing, i'd take what i can get. FWIW vivid is a PITA, they were listing 1972 T-bird front rotors as available but i had my suspicions. they just spam listings from anywhere / everywhere with no knowledge of the item or current status

If it were me, I d make a stink over the restocking fee if it were THEIR error.  If they refuse to budge,we’ll, then I wouldn’t return it—I’d put it up for sale…..and let EVERYBODY know about that company and their way of doing business, and how they treat FORMER customers.

I agree with Hogfiddles. FWIW. I got a fuel sending unit for my 72 from Dennis Carpenter.  It is pretty close to the stock unit but still not overly accurate. It reads full fine, but it gets less accurate as the tank drains. So it tells me I have less gas than what's actually in the tank. I guess it's better than telling me I have more gas than I do.

it's not uncommon to need to bend, either lengthen or shorten the float arm to correct the full to empty sweep.

an old bud replaced the tank in a Bronco, the new tank was more capacity,
we spent 5 mins improving the float arm geometry and a good time was had by all
