I am being "gifted" a farm field fresh 73 sports roof with a 351 FMX auto column shift. The big question is can I get the car out of Park and into Neutral without the ignition key to tow/push it? I do not want to damage the tranny if possible.

If no key is available, you can get under car and remove shift cable from transmission shift linkage or remove it from the steering column shift actuator rod near firewall, it's just held in place by a clip, then manually shift trans into neutral. FWIW, I'd pull driveshaft and seal transmission output shaft/tail housing for towing.

Yeah, It's a Hybrid...It burns gas and tires. No matter how good she looks, somebody, somewhere, is tired of her sh*t. Beauty is skin deep, ugliness goes clear to the bone. |
