i measured my 68 8" rearend from my mustang... 43 1/4" center pin to center pin of the springs, 52" backing to backing. i believe mustangs are the same 65-70? most seemed to have 8" but i believe the BB cars 390-428 probably had a 9" S code and R code cars?

Spencer, there are two dimensions shown, one is measured from the axle wheel mounting surfaces and the other is spring perch location. A good welder/fabricator can relocate spring perches easily. the wheel mounting surface distances are not easily changed.
Be aware that most dimensions on the internet are flange to flange, meaning where the backing plate meets the housing. This isn't as helpful when one is trying to fit wheels under fenders, because the distance from the axle and the housing flange varies quite a bit.
