Identifying a 69 Torino SCJ

   Hi guys,
New to this group and I know little about Torinos and I’m asking for your help in identifying a car I’m looking at.
I have the opportunity to acquire a barn find 1969 Torino, but before I do, I’d like to know what I’m getting. Specifically,if it’s a Cobra Jet or a Super Cobra Jet.

The first five of the VIN are 9K45R. The data plate reads 65A C 1A 24K 46 A U

It definitely has the correct badging for a Cobra, it does have a working cowl induction hood and there is an oil cooler in front of the radiator. It a formal top and is Black Jade with gold pin stripe.

It’s a little rough. Someone has removed the automatic C6 transmission and replaced it with a 4 speed. The engine not locked up and I was told the car was driven into the barn, but the clutch was shot.

I’ve resorted a few old cars and I’m thinking it will take about 25K to get it sorted out and have a nice driver paint job put back on it.

In your opinion, do to think the reward would be worth the investment and do you think this is a Super Cobra Jet?

We have some information on this on our parent webpage, check out these URLs: http://grantorinosport.org/resourcescj.htm http://grantorinosport.org/resourcesvin.htm If the data tag is original to the car, then your car had 3.50 gears originally, which means it was a CJ car, as SCJ only have 3.91 or 4.30 gears.
