As I wrote in an other thread my '72 GTS  with the 351 CJ - 4V engine is equipped with a Holley 4180 carb. Now that I have ongoing problems with the carb, I'm just pi**** off. There were several leakages the carb suffered, then the spark plugs are totally sooty and the car smells very strong of gas so the car runs a too rich mixture...this ends in part time a not runnig car...the mixture screws are sealed and I tried several times to "deseal" it but without success. Furthermore the idle speed screw always looses its adjustment so that the idle has to be readjusted very often... I'm no thinking of switching the overall carb because the adjustment of the carb would cost in Germany nearly the same as getting a new one from the USA. I also have the original carb as spare part, but 40 years old and in opposite to the car not restored. And additionaly the engine is not stock anymore....
So I'm thinking about a new carb and I like for example this one very much http://www.holley.com/0-83670 would it be a right choice? Is this carb similar to the Holley 4160 series?

The Engine specs are:

351 CJ engine 4V, the seller stated that the motor was bored over .0030\ balanced with 9.8 comp pistons, block decked and mated to milled heads with 3 angle stainless steel valves. 10.1 compression. factory 3000 stall. improved operating range to 5500 rpm.

Any other recommendations?

Sounds like a good choice you have made just make sure not to forget the ford kick down set up! I would also highly recomend a edelbrock carb. (http://www.edelbrock.com/automotive_new/mc/carbs_acc/carbs_access_main.shtml
I am running one on my 460 in a 74 ranchero and I pulled it out of the box bolted it up adjusted the idel mixture screws and the idle speed and done! (45 mins) The olny thing you might have to do is heat up and put a slight angle on the fuel inlet so a stock air cleaner can bolt up. If you are not using the stock air cleaner then no issue there.
