Hello all. I am having some issues with my driver side wiper blade. Today I pulled the whole wiper transmission assembly out to clean it up and I also replaced 2 missing bushings. I had two random bushings laying around the house that I made work. My issue now is that the drivers wiper blade doesnt make full contact with the windshield.
I have replaced the rubber strip but that didnt solve my issue. The driver's side blade has two arms, one goes to a stud with teeth (the main arm) and another just goes to a metal peg and has a round rubber bumper in the middle of the arm. My issue is that the second arm with the rubber bumper is pushing up on the main arm and when the blade moves, the center of the blade lifts up and doesnt make contact with the windshield anymore. Ive tried using a ziptie to hold the two arms together and that didnt work, I got rid of the rubber bumper because it was hard as a rock and that didnt work. My issue is that the second little arm is pushing up on the main one and lifts the whole wiper blade up. What should I do? There are some N.O.S wiper arms on ebay but id rather not spend $150-$200 on one

Do you have a picture? I have a feeling the driver's side arm isn't installed correctly. Were you able to get the wiper transmission out without removing the hood? Just curious if there is enough room.

I dont have a picture right now. I was able to get it out without removing the hood. Once I dissconnected the transmission from the wiper motor and all that, I pulled it torwards the driver side and got the passenger side wiper arm mount to stick out of the cowl, then I just pulled it out diagonally if that makes sence.
The arm is pushed all the way down on the knob thing with the teeth and the little metal plate is pushed in to lock the wiper arm on and the 2nd little arm is on the stud. The arm is chewed up anyway so im probably just gonna buy a new one

The second little arm adjusts the angle of the blade as it proceeds through its sweep toward the edge of the windshield. It sounds to me like the angle of the main arm on the shaft is too tight to the angle of the secondary arm. If you have the blade angle wrong, this will cause the secondary arm to be in the wrong position, that could put too much pressure on the blade or even lift it arm slightly when it hits the binding point. It may be easier to disengage the wiper rack from the motor/transmission and fiddle with the arm while manually moving the wipers across their sweep. Good luck.

I used to just Ben the arm a bit until it did a clean wipe whenever in use.
