Hey guys just a quick question. This is for a 1972 Gran Torino Sport that originally had a 429 and now has a 351W. In trying to remove my pitman arm with a pitman arm puller I trashed the rubber seal. Does anyone know where I can get just that seal or will I have to buy a new pitman arm that comes with it? I still don't have it off at this point, as the puller I bought from Harbor Freight bent. I'm going to get one from Advanced auto tomorrow that I hope will work better. I even applied heat and it didn't budge. Thanks for all of your help with my questions!
Steve

Are you talking the boot where the arm attaches to the drag link? Or the seal around the shaft at the bottom of the steering gear? If it's the latter, Rock Auto has the seal from lots of different brands at low prices ("steering gear pitman shaft seal"). If it's the former, then I'm not sure where to get one.

It is the boot where the arm attaches to the drag link. Turns out I didn't need to take that off, just the pitman arm from the sector shaft. I was not reading the directions correctly in the ford shop manual. Now it is looking like I will have to buy a new pitman arm with the boot. That will teach me to slow down when I am working on Trinity! Hoping the Pitman arm puller I am getting from Advance Auto will remove the pitman arm.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news: you cannot get a pitman arm unless you get really lucky and find one on eBay.

I have actually found pitman arms at a few places. I have decided to go ahead and replace the rest of my steering components since they are all original to the car. I have already replaced ball joints and suspension components, so I mise well do the rest. thank you for your reply!

Is it the correct one for a '72? Definitely buy one, and once you have it in your possession (so you know the seller is legit and it is the right arm), let us know where you found it. A lot of people would love to know!

I got mine on the O'Reilly website a couple of years ago, and everywhere I'd looked before that showed being out of stock, so I was pretty sure I got lucky and bought the last one in America.

Here are some of the Pitman arms I have found for the 72 GTS.
Here is where I bought all new steering linkage from at the best price. PST parts seem to be legit. They also have a web site, but the parts are cheaper on their Ebay store.
Here are some other places I found the pitman arm at.
Autozone
NAPA
Energy suspension parts
Performance suspension parts

I'll let you know If I have any problems with the pitman arm or any of the steering linkage I bought.

Those are for manual steering. If you have manual steering, you're golden. It's the power steering arm that's unavailable.
