I recently purchased the fuzzies kit from Ecklers, but upon receiving and opening it I found by test fitting just the driver side door that one piece is too short and one piece is too long. Has anyone else had that problem from Repops? Not by much but about 1/4-1/2", noticable for sure. Has anyone had better luck with Steel Rubber Co or Autokrafters? Or maybe I got a lemon.
While taking off the door panels to test fit the fuzzies I've really come to realize how brittle and worn my door panels are. They are the sport versions, which seems like no one makes an aftermarket version of the plastic door panels. Has anyone had good luck with local interior shops refurbishing the sport panels? Or do most live with it or go with the standard panels? Thank you for you wisdom ![]() ![]() |

I wish I knew also, as I have yet to get to R&Ring my window felts. I have the Sport panels too, two that are very rough and fragile. I'm hoping an upholstery shop can add something to the top portion like late model cars have, say leather going down a few inches. The speaker openings for one of my trucks I'm going to play with the worst panels. I want four speakers in each door, and not behind a small are with slits in the panel. I think I'm going to work the panels to have a flat spot for four round speaker grilles. I installed speakers like that in my old 72 Gran Torino panels, the flat style. People rework the kick panels all the time for molding a speaker into them, I see that for mine somehow.

I don't think any of the repro fuzzies are super great fit. I bought a lot of use parts a while back which include a set of repop brand fuzzies. I seem to recall they were not as nice as the OEM, but I don't remember the length being an issue for the front doors. The rear windows (fastback) fuzzies were short, IIRC. In any case, I didn't need them, so I sold them. As for sport door panels, no one reproduces them. I think the only restoration option would be JustDashes, who would make them better than new. However, their cost to do so is likely out of this world.

Keep in mind that the doors are supposed to be a strucfural support safety wise. Four speakers in a door panel would keep me below the speed limit wherever I was going even with Zeppelin II blaring.

I was just in college, it was a good cheap idea at the time. I bought the 8" Sony round speakers and two hours of work to run another set of speaker wires. ![]() |
