The charcoal canister on my 73 GTS is missing the cap on the center tube.  Is this a vented cap or just a cap that seals the tube?

Thanks, John, wasn't sure if a vented cap was necessary in the system, I think I remember seeing a couple of canisters at a local yard that had the caps, I'll pick one up.

I was working on my vacuum tubes, and reviewing the service manuals and saw this diagram.

It is vented to allow the flow of fresh air.
