Getting ready to redo the front end on my 72. While I am in there I wish to clean the inner fender wells and frame rails. Plan to clean off with wire brushes and wheels. Trying to figure out what type of coating to put back on. The more I read the more confused I get! I live in California so rust is not a big thing. I have read about woolwax and others.
Looking for suggestions.

POR 15 has been the most recommended for ages, to apply over the bare metal or epoxy primer. Many products require top coats or they do degrade. I think POR is one of the best without a top coat.

I used bed liner inside my fender wells and it has held up well to road debris. For the frame, I would just paint it with a quality black paint. Eastwood has some good choices. If you have any rust, you will want to remove all the rust prior to painting the surfaces. If you are in nice climate, I wouldn't use Woolwax or surface shield. It's great stuff for those of us that have to drive in winter climate, but it's basically an oil that is sprayed on to protect your car from rusting. It works but is it ever messy. My daily drivers get a treatment like this, but my Torino does not because it does not see snow and salt.
