I have been stopping by and lurking for almost 3 years so I figured it was about time I introduced myself.
Many of you probably already know me from my tach and ammeter conversions. While I do not own a Torino I have always liked them.  My 76 Ranchero GT was one of my favorite cars.trucks.
One of my 'hobbies' is making tachs for cars that did not have tachs so I will probably have more questions than answers.

Welcome Bob! I have upgraded you to have full forum access. I am glad you decided to join the forum, I am sure you have a lot of great knowledge and experience to share. You converted my Tach for my '72 several years ago.  It was nice work and I have recommended you many times. I like your Bubbles pic for the Avatar...LOL

Welcome Bob, great to have you here with the expert skills.

Can you convert a 1973 Gran Torino tach to sweep to 7000rpm instead of 6, or 7500? I have an engine to build that I want to be shifting at 7k at least. The tach will be about both the range and how to modify the display too.

Thanks Don.  I cannot believe I haven't had this Torino fum in my rotation.  I always check out the Torinos and Fairlanes at shows but somehow missed them online.
As far as a tach goes, I can do 7000 RPM, but not the artwork.
As I recall the '73 tach face is dished which makes artwork a real challenge.   You might check with whitegauges.net and see if they make a tach overlay for the 73.  If they already have one they can easily make a 7K version in OEM colors.

Thanks for the upgrade, Vince.  You are the first person ever to acknowledge 'Bubbles'.  Many folks think it's Milton from office space (sans the red swingline stapler).

Thanks Bob, I believe all of the Sport/Rally gauges for the 1972-79's will interchange. They just changed the display artwork and some electrical circuitry along those models. I haven't looked at them closely other than a few pictures and junk yard trips in the 1980's.

welcome! yes whiteface gauges do make an overlay for the torino's sport and standard clusters ( i have them in my car) later on i may have you covert my 2 wire tach, it works but i suspect it dont read accurate after 2K???... but i need to fix the frame and entire front bodywork firstCry
