so i need to run a Lokar c6 trans kickdown cable setup, (part number 20c6ht) due to the tall intake i have. I bought one, but i cant get my head around how it goes on , the instructions leave me baffled. anyone here use one or have any photos?

ok pete, here's a better pic of the carb attachment (i used the throttle cable mount screw and drilled a smaller hole below it to keep the kick down mount true and secure) don't cut the excess kick down cable until your sure the adjustment is right and working properly (there will be a couple of inches of cable left over at the carb) fine tuning adjustments are made at the bracket by the throttle cable bracket this is an AOD c-6 i think is similar

here's what it looks like at the tranny (the exhaust pipe is in the way for a better pic, sorry) in the bracket arm on the shaft mine has 2 holes for the cable end (there should be a note reference that for different trannys for the proper ratio of pull) i don't know what happened to my directions so i can't say if the c-6 is exactly like that or not ( this is the direction for the cable to "pull" to kick down the tranny. if IIRC the cable can be mounted with the arm either up or (down: like mine) to pull to kick down event. hope this helps! the directions sound confusing at first

Thanks for the pics, it looks like I would not use the ford auto trans kickdown lever on the holley, but instead some random hole on the bottom of the throttle shaft. aOD looks different at the trans end, there is no spring provision on the c6

i got it. just installed it, seems to work fine.  only issue is when there is no tension on the cable at the carb, i could see where the cable housing could slip out of the adjuster. i put a bit of a knurl on mine with some pliers and it stays put now. thanks for the tips

Good pics there John, that's well done. I have installed one of the Lokar kits onto a Fox Mustang with an old Holley. That was fun to do at night outside, about 18 years ago.

I still have an extra AOD kit someplace, as I was going to use it with a Projection 4 in my Ranchero. That was from plans I had in the early 90's. Wow time is running away too fast.
